How to Play

Say what you want to do.

Type a command, or click anything in the world and pick from its menu. This is every command you can use right now.

The basics

A verb, then a thing.

Start with what you want to do, then what you want to do it to: take sword, look at well, give sword to Aldric. Small words such as the, at, to and from are ignored, so look at the well and look well mean the same.

Most verbs have shorter names. l is look, i is inventory, and n is go north. Each shortcut is shown beside its verb below.

You do not have to be exact. Names can usually be shortened: look at well finds the stone well, and a person's name can be abbreviated to its first letters.

Choosing one of several

First, second, last.

When several things share a name, say which one: smell first wolf, look at the second wolf, hit last wolf. You can also write 2nd, 3rd and so on, up to the tenth.

On its own, first and last mean the first or last thing in view: look at last.

Always growing

This list is never finished.

Wizards can add new verbs at any time, and the things you meet may answer verbs of their own. A wolf may have something to say if you smell it, and a blade may reveal how sharp it is if you test it. If you wonder what a thing can do, try it. Click it in the graphical view to see its menu.
