The Purpose

Why Madesko exists

A world that teaches you how to build it, made by the people who live in it.

Inspiration

It comes from being inspired.

Every world worth loving was made by people who were inspired by another one. There comes a moment when you stop playing and start wondering who made this, and how. You see the work, the art, the imagination and the collaboration behind it, and you want to make something too.

Madesko exists for that moment. It is a place to be inspired, and a place to do something about it, where it is all about fun and driven by its community.

Madesko is running today, with cities to explore, quests to take and fights to win. Its creatures and places are written in code that one person wrote and another can read.

Learning

Learn by making something real.

Most people learn to code on exercises that nobody will ever use. Here, the first thing you write can be a creature that someone meets tomorrow.

That is a better reason to learn. You test your work in a private copy, and mistakes are shown to you before anything goes live. Then it is out in the world, and people run into it.

Mentoring

Learn from those ahead of you. Teach those behind you.

This is the heart of it. Madesko is a place where someone writing their first line of code can learn from people who have done this for years, and where those people get to pass on what they know.

It starts with what is here today. Your work is reviewed by the wizards before it goes live, and you can read what others have built to see how they did it. How mentoring grows from there will be shaped by the first people who join.

Made by its people

A world shaped by the people in it.

The ground is only the beginning. What stands on it should come from the people who live here.

Idea Not everyone will want to write code. Crafters will raise towns, forge what people carry and create the monsters they meet, so there will be more than one way to leave your mark.

Join in

You do not have to know how yet.

Whether you have never written a line of code or have spent a career at it, we would like to hear from you. Tell us what you want to make and what you know.
